This material is a bit more complex than the typical commercial "birch oil" on the market. True birch oil is expensive because the bark has to be macerated and soaked in warm water for 10-12 hours minimum before it can be distilled. The yield is very low and the oil is more difficult to collect from the distillation because it is more dense than water, therefore the oil layer sinks to the bottom of the collection apparatus instead of floating on top like most essential oils.
Caution: For external use only. Keep away from children & pets. Avoid eyes & mucous membranes. Avoid if pregnant. Highly concentrated - always dilute with a carrier oil when using on skin. Due to the methyl salicylate content, avoid topical use if on blood thinners.
